Tom Braxton West Texas Scholarship
A college scholarship has been created in Tom Braxton's name to be awarded each year to a West Texas high school student pursuing the field of music. The scholarship was created by the Midland African American Roots Historical/Cultural Arts Council, Inc. (MAARHCAC) as a tribute to Braxton's profound contributions to music education and his ongoing service to the community. On November 3, the MAARHCAC sponsored a fundraising concert at the Martin Luther King Performing Arts Center in Midland, Texas. The event was a great success, and the first Tom Braxton West Texas Scholarship is expected to be awarded in May 2008. Below is a photo from the concert:
